Silva (2017)

A work commissioned by Ensemble Offspring for their a chamber piece written by Mary Finsterer.

Silva derives from Latin meaning forests or woodlands. Having once lived near Belanglo Forest in regional NSW, it was often in my thoughts as a place of sadness and terror. The forest itself wasn’t to blame for what happened and this piece was created as a kind of homage to the innocent victims and the attributed mythology of a place where only time can put matters to rest.
